Future for Heroes – Mental Health First Aid Training
Additional Future for Heroes’ trainers, mentors and Brathay support staff are now qualified Mental Health First Aiders.
They join our already trained volunteers who provide reassurance to those still-serving WIS personnel who attend our course whilst on duty (as sanctioned by the Defence Recovery Capability).
It also ensures that better all-round support can be provided to those delegates of ours who might benefit from such understanding.
Whilst we provide personal development intervention, this qualification allows our people to recognise and support those who might find the transition from the military more of a challenge than others: it aids our people in identifying specific issues and increases their ability to listen and support individuals as they move forward in their lives.
Importantly, the knowledge gained helps tremendously when guiding someone towards the organisations and specialist assistance best suited to support them.
Huge thanks to the Defence Medical Welfare Service for facilitating the training as well as The Brathay Trust for hosting and making it all happen.
